Tragic Loss: Euphoria Star Angus Cloud Passes Away at 25
Actor Angus Cloud, best known for his role as Fezco "Fez" O'Neill on the HBO teen drama Euphoria, passed away at the age of 25, as confirmed by his family on Monday.
Cloud's publicist, Cait Bailey, shared that the actor died at his family home in Oakland, California, but no cause of death was disclosed.
In a heartfelt statement, Cloud's family expressed their deep sorrow at saying goodbye to an exceptional human being. They revealed that Angus had been intensely struggling with the loss of his father, who was his best friend, and the actor had openly battled mental health issues. The family hoped that Angus's passing would serve as a reminder to others that they are not alone in their struggles and should not face them in silence.
Angus Cloud, hailing from Oakland, rose to fame with his portrayal of the drug dealer Fezco on Euphoria, endearing himself to the show's fans.
While some people assumed that Cloud's character Fez was a reflection of his true self, the actor challenged this notion, emphasizing the effort and skill he brought to the role.
Before Euphoria, Cloud had no acting experience. He was discovered by casting scout Eléonore Hendricks while walking down the street in New York. Despite initial reservations, Cloud eventually became a co-star alongside Zendaya in the series, thanks to casting director Jennifer Venditti and series creator Sam Levinson.
In the wake of Angus Cloud's untimely passing, Sam Levinson shared his grief, describing Cloud as a unique talent and too young to leave this world. Levinson acknowledged Cloud's struggle with addiction and depression and expressed how much he loved and valued him.
Mason Shea Joyce, who portrayed a young Fez on Euphoria, paid tribute to Cloud, emphasizing his kindness, support, and willingness to offer a listening ear or pep talk. Playing the role of young Fezco was an honor for Joyce.
HBO, in a statement, expressed their deep sadness at the loss of Angus Cloud, praising his immense talent and considering him a beloved member of the HBO and Euphoria family. They extended their condolences to his loved ones during this challenging time.
Cloud had recently been involved in the film industry, appearing in his first film, The Line, and making cameo appearances in music videos. He was also set to co-star in Scream 6 and had completed filming for an upcoming monster thriller film by Universal, scheduled for release in April the following year.
